Armand, Viscount Sherringham, in Napoleon's France as a secret agent, falls in love with the beautiful Réve de Valmont, whom he finds bathing in the moonlight in a wood near Paris. Falling in love was simple enough; facing the dangers which threatened to destroy them both was quite another matter.
