What's vulcanized FKM?
FKM is a high-grade fluoroelastomer rubber. Vulcanization is a heat-treatment process that cross-links the polymer chains, dramatically improving strength, heat resistance, and chemical durability. Vulcanized FKM is the same family used in automotive engine seals — substantially tougher than typical silicone bands.
Why 316 stainless steel?
316 is the marine-grade alloy — superior corrosion resistance versus standard 304 stainless. Critical for hardware exposed to saltwater, sweat, and chlorinated pool water. The MIM (Metal Injection Moulded) process allows the precise lug shapes Apple Watch requires.
Will it survive sustained UAE summer use?
Yes — FKM is designed for the heat. Doesn't soften, deform, or degrade like silicone in sustained hot conditions. The ribbed interior also helps with sweat management critical for Gulf summer wear.
How does it clean?
Soap and water for daily cleaning. Magic eraser for stubborn marks. The 100% waterproof construction means you can run it under the tap, scrub with cleanser, dry with a towel — looks new again.
Rugged Band vs Apple's Ocean Band?
Apple's Ocean Band uses similar fluoroelastomer with a tubular construction; Nomad's Rugged Band is more conventional band-shaped with the steel hardware emphasis. Both are excellent for water/sweat. Pick Apple's Ocean for the unique aesthetic; Nomad's Rugged for the more traditional sports band silhouette and arguably stronger lug attachment.
