Protective clothing certified according to EN ISO 11611 gives the wearer protection against the small splashes of molten metal, brief contact with flame & radiant heat. The clothing is classified as per 2 levels, for the protection ability they offer during welding applications, which may cause molten spatters and radiant heat hazards. When tested according to ISO 9150, each material or material assembly shall require: » At least 15 drops of molten metal to raise the temperature behind the test specimen by 40°C for Class 1, and » 25 drops of molten metal to raise the temperature behind the test specimen by 40°C for Class 2. Material which ignites after the above testing, does not fulfil this test. Another qualifying testing is for the Radiant Heat Transfer Index (RHTI for 24°C), tested under this norm as per ISO 6942, at a heat flux density of 20 kW/m2. Qualification criteria for RHTI24 in seconds (s): If the garment is multi- layered, the test shall be carried out on the complete material assembly.
