About the Artwork

"A Wheatfield, with Cypresses" was painted in June 1889, and Van Gogh considered it one of his best summer landscapes. The cypress trees fascinated him -- he called them "beautiful as regards lines and proportions, like an Egyptian obelisk." The painting pulses with movement: the wind bends the wheat, swirls the clouds, and shakes the dark cypresses. Van Gogh achieved this dynamism through rhythmic brushstrokes that make the entire canvas feel like it is breathing.

Who Is This For

Landscape lovers, fans of bold brushwork, and anyone who has ever stood in a field and felt the wind take over. The earthy greens and golds pair well with casual and smart-casual outfits alike.
