About the Artwork
The "Wey" pattern was designed for Morris & Co. and named after the River Wey that flows through Surrey. Morris drew heavily from the English countryside for his designs, and the Wey pattern reflects his love for native wildflowers and dense foliage. The blue colorway is particularly sought after -- it has a richness and depth that feels almost hand-painted. Morris believed that decorative arts deserved the same respect as fine arts, and this pattern proves his point.
