About the Artwork

"Strawberry Thief" was designed in 1883 and became one of Morris & Co.'s most popular fabrics. The pattern shows birds reaching for strawberries among flowers and leaves, all arranged in a symmetrical repeat. Morris used an indigo discharge printing method that was difficult and time-consuming but produced uniquely rich colors. The pattern has stayed in production ever since -- proof of how something playful can also be timeless.

Who Is This For

Bird watchers, textile art fans, and anyone who smiles at the idea of a thrush caught red-handed with a strawberry. Makes a memorable gift for the friend who already has everything.
