About the Artwork
Mucha designed "Zodiac" in 1896 as a calendar cover, but it quickly became a standalone art print due to popular demand. The composition places a young woman at the center of the zodiac wheel, her hair flowing outward like rays from the sun. Each zodiac symbol is rendered in Mucha's ornate Art Nouveau style, with Byzantine-inspired halos and Celtic-influenced borders. It represents Mucha at the peak of his Parisian fame, blending astrology, mythology, and decorative art into a single image.
